WNDERfull is part travel inspiration, part art, part cookbook, and all celebration of adventure. I was inspired to start organizing my thoughts, work, and inspiration to share with others while traveling in Nicaragua. It was the first time I had been fortunate enough to escape the United States since I moved back from Europe 6 years prior. A fire was rekindled inside me- I suddenly had a vision of a life less tied down to one place. A life more open to possibilities. Travel has been the thing that has forced me to grow as a citizen of the world. When I was 20 years old I had never traveled outside of the United States, until I boarded a plane to England where I lived for the next four years. I spent some time living in China, and then back to England for a while. Then in 2011, I moved back to Atlanta, where I grew up and it seemed like my wings were clipped. Blame it on the recession- or bad luck, I just couldn’t seem to get out of the country, and sometimes it even felt like Atlanta had me trapped. So my trip to Nicaragua was symbolic of a lot of things. I started to remember the natural curiosity that fueled me earlier in life- the same curiosity that allowed me to relocate to another country I had never visited before when I wasn’t even old enough to drink (legally). I’m not an expert at anything. I like to think of myself as a humble student of life everywhere I go. I aim to have an open mind and an open heart- ready to fill with adventures where ever I go. I’m not fluent in any language aside from English, but I do now enough phrases of various languages to get by. I’ve found that a big smile tends to be the most helpful travel accessory. I’m always open to suggestions on places to check out, so practice being friendly by getting in touch and telling me some of your own.
